See SEED at the NAME Conference
Going to the National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME) Conference next week? We hope to see you at a session led by SEED Co-directors Gail Cruise-Roberson, Emmy Howe, and Jondou Chase Chen, "Stories for liberation: Laying the Foundation for Ongoing Conversations on Race and Gender in Schools."
Participants in this session will look inward at how they were schooled to deal with race and gender, as a necessary prelude to creating community and curricula that empower all children and families. They will experience methods of intentionally structured group conversation to create a democratic discourse that includes input from all voices.
NAME 2018 will be at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tennessee, November 27-30, with the theme, "How Many More ’Til We Rise Up? Multicultural Education, a Radical Response of Love, Life & Dr. King’s Dream."
The SEED session is Friday, November 30, at 11:10 a.m. Check your program for the location.
We are also hosting an informal get-together for SEED leaders, colleagues, and friends that Thursday evening. If you are interested, e-mail Emmy Howe by Wednesday, November 28, for details.
